"Reach high for the sky, for at least you fail, you'll still reach for the stars"

"The higher the expectation, the higher the disappointment"

Confused!
Should I aim high and reach for the sky or end up with disappointment when it's not up to my expectations?

I aimed high... I thought I did well and am confident with myself, however, what I've gotten in the end were not up to my expectations and I am now filled with disappointment.

Just received my score for my presentation which was held on Monday. I've got 72%. It might seems to be a satisfactory result but it was not what I had expected it to. I knew I gave a good and convincing presentation and got assurance from the audience that my presentation was good but 72% was not what I had expected.

Before it was turn for my group's presentation, other groups had already finished theirs and everyone clearly noticed the difference between the presentation of each groups and the quality of it. Thus, it was extremely obvious that matt's presentation was boring and long. Supposedly each group was given a maximum of 15 minutes to present but Matt alone took 30 mins.. Everyone in the lecture hall was obviously bored with the presentation and seriously, it was catching anyone's attention simply because it's too long and theoretic. Overall, it's boring and since it's a presentation of asking investors to invest on the company, it shouldn't be too theory-based but should focus on the main point. Afterall, it's not a lecture but a presentation. Besides that, initially he was presenting well but when looking at the response of the audience, his passion and interest had dropped significantly and it was obvious that he do not have the will to carry on doing the presentation. However, to everyone's surprise, he got the highest which was 84%.

Clearly, I know I was not perfect in delivering the presentation but I was really unsatisfied the big difference in my results in comparison with matt's. Based on my character, I will definitely ask the lecturer for the reason. The response I've got was your pronounciation was not great when in fact she did not sit through my whole presentation as she was rushing off for a meeting. How can she assess me and give me this result when she do not have any idea how I did my presentation and so on.. I understand that I was not great in speaking English with British accent but I am seeking for improvement constantly and I am very sure that the improvement was relatively obvious in the way I speak as compared to when I first came. Moreover, she mentioned that matt is a 110% student, one who is always well-prepared and dis not miss any lesson thus he deserves the marks. This sentence is really amusing and unbelievable.

Why do I say so?
Currently, it was presentation skill that should be assessed. It should base on how each individual presents, the way he/she speak, the content and structure of the presentation and the confidence. If it was presentation skill that you should be assessing, you should not consider factors like good attendance and being well prepared for class. This presentation was one of the components of the whole final year result, it was obvious that everyone was well prepared. Despite most of them did not attend eng lesson regularly, but at least they did what they are required to and had put in effort in all the assignments given. It was really unfair when I was given that explanation from the lecturer. If you are assessing on the performance in all the classes based on the attendance and class involvement, everyone will definitely say matt deserves the mark and perhaps he should be given a higher marks; but it is not the case now. Thus, I really felt the unequal treatment received and was absolutely mad about it.

Arghhh... can't believe that she will give such reason. Ridiculous!!!
